I believe I was 15 or 16 when I listened to Pink Floyd's Animals album. I had been familiar with the band prior to that moment, but the album changed me. At the time I was fully into hard rock guitarists like George Lynch, Viv Campbell, etc. But in an instant Gilmour flipped a switch where it became less about flash and more about feel.
I can't think of any other guitarist that would have more of transformational impact on me. I want from trying to shred, to trying emote through a single note because of him.
